I am the author of Crafting the Travel Guidebook: How to Write, Publish & Sell Your Travel Book. This book was written after years of writing travel articles for various newspapers and self-publishing a bestselling travel guide called New Jersey Day Trips.I live in New Jersey altough I have also resided in New York, Virginia, New Mexico and Hawaii over a period of years. Although I was an English major I didn't start writing until after I had become a librarian. I worked at the New York Public Library, Hunter College and the University of Hawaii as a librarian. At the same time I began to publish short, often humorous articles in magazines. I married and brought up two children after we moved to suburban New Jersey.
A chance feature writing assignment in a local newspaper led to a regular feature called Trips and Treks. These articles centered on day trips in and around New Jersey. A collection of these articles became the basis of my first book, New Jersey Day Trips. After giving classes on self-publishing in the local adult school and answering myriad questions about formatting a book, printing and marketing and how to find a publisher, I decided to put all my acquired knowledge into a book. Thus Crafting the Travel Guidebook was born. I am now looking into e-book publishing for a new shorter book on the subject of book publishing.
